What a sweet ride… 0
I was on facebook and I came across a link to the Madsen Bike company. They have some sweet rides. If you want a chance to win one during the month of July check out this link.

Thought I would update the look of the ekfamily.net website. I like the colors other than the fact that there is a little too much pink… looks a tad girly. Oh well… next time I will go with something more manly.
I have been pretty lazy about posting pictures this year. Here are a few pictures from our Destin, FL vacation in April.
And here are a few pics from June 2009.
I came across a web page that has the Swedish pronunciation of our last name today. As most of our family and close friends know “ek” means “oak” in Swedish. From the best of my memory, our family has always said “Ek” with a really short e, but apparently the Swedes don’t agree. Sounds like the e is a long e, almost a ee-a, or ee-e sound.
Check it out: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/File:Sv-ek.ogg. (When you get to the page click on the Play button… the one with the triangle on it).
Maryke finally did it! She rode her bike by herself for the very first time – solo! And boy is she excited. Wish I had a video of how excited she was. This movie is her first solo shot. It was a super nice day and I had been practicing with her for a few minutes (well actually 2 years, but lets not go there) before this shot was taken. You can faintly hear on the video that some of the neighborhood kids were saying “Good job, Maryke” but what you don’t see is that the whole neighborhood was cheering her on. It was a really great day in the cul-de-sac.
The kids were getting a little carried away when we took these video shots. We decided that we wanted to tell jokes to the webcam. Unfortunately, it seems like the kids don’t remember any real jokes, so they made up their own. Then the mayhem broke loose…
